Elves

A race that is highly attuned to magic, very long lived, proud and elegant, loves nature and culture both; a civilization that developed in harmony with nature.

Since they are so long-lived, they have a far deeper understanding of magic than any other race, and have experimented with magic more. Elven civilization developed around magic, and their keen senses led them to discover a special crystal that possessed an endless supply of magical energy. They even found out that the light it gave off enhanced their control of high level magic. They called this miraculous find the Eternal Crystal.

As the crystal was simply way too powerful, and yet they were unable to move it, the elves ended up building an enormous crystal shrine around it, and this eventually became the center of elven civilization.
